Installation Piece at Taube Museum of Art

A video Star took of me finishing it up. It isn't permanent, it is only to last until the end of the Exhibit..... Star tells me that Terry Aman, the features editor from the Minot Daily News noted upon viewing it, that the transient nature of the installation piece and the title of the Exhibit- En Route were very fitting. I took that as a great compliment Terry, thank you!

Curriculum Vitae

We updated my Vitae this weekend.

Minot ND ........

Spent all weekend completing a packet of interest for the Nashville International Airport's call for public art. I am drooling over a chance to create something for that gigantic space over the ticket lobby! I have spent so many years dreaming of returning home that my head and my sketchbook are filled with images and ideas for just such a project....

Just finished the packet when I got the call that the weather was to bad for me to go from town into base! Woohooo!

Windchill tomorrow projected at -56 F!! With a base temp of -13F

Here is a video I took....Minot North Dakota Blowing Snow

MSU's Poetry, Art, Music, & Song Night at Taube Museum of Art

photo of Lisa McCool-Grime

We had a great time. What stands out the most is how cool it was that these talented performers were standing in front of Jason's work. We loved Duane Halvorson's accordion performance of Mediterranean music, lively and refreshing on a chilly evening. The poetry written by Lisa McCool-Grime was very entertaining, she is a great performer with colorful and spell binding imagery. We enjoyed all the performers and we met some very nice people who were interested in Jason's work. Wish we could have stayed longer but I forgot my insulin again! If you are ever in Minot for one of these events you must come out! I hear there might be one coming again soon! --Star Hargrove

“PRINTS ON THE WALL!”

Printmakers Jason Hargrove and Eric A. Johnson Visit the Taube Museum

(Minot, ND) The Taube Museum of Art at 2 N. Main St. will be exhibiting “En Route” by new Minot resident with the USAF, Jason Hargrove and “Polka Dots and Crooked Trees” by Fargo area native, Eric A. Johnson. The prints in this exhibit include two different styles and both exhibit a very strong creative and artistic style.

Hargrove created a process of printmaking using vinyl sign equipment; which combines art and machine. He has a degree in desktop publishing and previously owned a vinyl sign business before the Air Force. He uses the vinyl sign equipment to experience new levels within his art, to perhaps add more detail or speed up the process to enhance his main flow of work. His work has different themes, Air Force, Alaska, social and cultural issues and styles, from realistic to abstract.

Johnson is a printmaker currently devoting his creative energy to the linocut process. He uses the reductive method, carving a layered tapestry of interwoven lines that manifest as expressive trees glowing and vibrating in their brilliantly hued fantasy landscapes. He graduated with an MFA from the University of North Dakota and has exhibited his work both nationally and internationally. He currently keeps a studio in Fargo and works as an intern at the Printmaking Education and Research Studio (P.E.A.R.S.) assisting Master Printmaker Kent Kapplinger.

This exhibit will be displayed, intermixed, in the full gallery from December 29 – February 23, 2008. There will be an Artist Reception held on Thursday, January 10th from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm. with the artists in attendance.

For more information on either artist, please visit www.eajarts.com and www.jason-hargrove.com.

There is no charge for admission, but contributions will be accepted to help the Taube Museum fulfill their mission of enriching lives through the arts. Refreshments will be served.
